Is it necessary for me and my partner to register for marriage again in Hong Kong ?

A1.

There is no need to do so. According to Section 2(2)(d) of Married Persons Status Ordinance, Cap. 182, overseas marriage is not only recognised in that country but also in Hong Kong. We will assist the Couples to update their marital status when they come back to HK.

Q2.

Why was I told by some overseas wedding planners that I needed to get marriage certificate issued by HK government after the wedding ?

A2.

They told you that because those wedding planners didn't get you Civil / Legal Wedding. By that it means the wedding could be blessed wedding, and foreigners' wedding in such country is not recognized by the law. In this case, the wedding will neither be accepted and recognised by the HK government. That's why we always advise couples to check carefully since the marriage laws are different from country to country.

What should we need to consider when deciding on the location? How much is that?

A3.

In terms of wedding expenses, the difference in various countries isn't that big. Just decide on the length of your vacation, wedding date, preference for a particular location and your whole budget. Our price starts from HKD 16,000 - 50,000, including a set of wedding dress and tuxedo, with a legal wedding certificate. Some Asian wedding packages even include 2 flight tickets and few nights accommodations. Package content is mainly depends on the location itself.

Which countries are the most popular ones?
A4.
In Asia, definitely Bali - Couples always like the SPA, steadily weather, beach + sun atmosphere. Bali has successfully replaced Guam and became the number 1 wedding destination in Aisa. In Europe, romantic Italy and Greece are the most popular countries. In Australia and New Zealand area - Couples are totally relaxed and enjoyed in lovely Sydney and Gold Coast. In USA, for sure the Japanese hottest travel place - Hawaii.
